3/32 inch heat shrink tubing fits 20–22 AWG wire — thermocouple leads, LED strip runs, PCB hook-up wire, and the sensor cable on e-bike controllers and marine instrument panels. NFPA 70 Table 310.15 rates 22 AWG at 3A and 20 AWG at 5A, so at this gauge the quality of the seal matters far more than conductor sizing. At 2.4mm expanded, the tube slides over bare 20 and 22 AWG conductors and recovers to roughly 0.8mm — enough grip to hold a soldered joint without crushing fine strands. Size to the widest point you must cover, not the copper: a crimped 22–18 AWG butt splice barrel measures 5–6mm and needs 1/4 inch, so keep 3/32 inch for the bare conductor either side of it. The hot-melt liner flows at 120°C and seals the joint against condensation. Ten feet rewires a full instrument panel without paying for a 60ft spool.

Full industrial dual-wall adhesive spec in a convenient 10ft pack. Same 600V rated, waterproof polyolefin construction as the large bulk rolls.
Sizing over a connector? The Wire Gauge row above is for bare conductor. Heat shrink must be sized to the widest point it passes over, so a crimped butt splice or lug barrel needs a larger tube than the wire alone — a 22–18 AWG splice barrel measures 5–6mm, a 16–14 AWG barrel 7–8mm, and a 12–10 AWG barrel 9–11mm. Measure the barrel, allow about 20% clearance, and confirm the recovered diameter is smaller than the narrowest thing the tube must grip. Use the size calculator.

Good quality and sealing heat shrink
Heat shrink works good. Makes a nice sealed wire connection. Better than pre-cut heat shrink — you can make whatever length you want.
Smart format for repair work
Great for keeping several sizes on hand without the bulk. Same quality as the large rolls — the adhesive seals perfectly every time.

3/32 inch (2.4mm) fits bare 20–22 AWG — thermocouple leads, LED strip runs, PCB hook-up wire, instrument sensor cable. Fine-gauge work consumes tubing in inches, not feet, so the arithmetic of a short pack inverts at the bottom of the range. Ten feet cut into the 2-inch pieces this work actually uses is roughly sixty terminations, which for most people is a year of them.
Consumption per joint scales with diameter. A 2 AWG lug end takes 4 inches of tube; a soldered thermocouple splice takes an inch and a half. Buy both sizes on 60ft rolls and the large one is gone in a season while the small one is still three-quarters full years later.
That imbalance is the reason this pack exists at the fine end of the line. The 60ft roll of 3/32 inch is genuinely production stock — correct for a shop terminating instrument wire daily, and a poor purchase for anyone else, because most of it will be sitting on the shelf long after the job that prompted it.
Ten feet, meanwhile, rewires a complete instrument panel with tubing left over. It is enough to sleeve every soldered joint on a sensor loom, colour the break-outs, and still have material for the next fault. The pack is sized to the work rather than to a price break, which at this diameter turn out to be different numbers.
| Property | Figure | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Expanded diameter | 2.4mm (3/32") | Slides over bare 20 and 22 AWG without forcing |
| Recovered diameter | ≈0.8mm | Grips fine strands without crushing them |
| Bare wire range | 20–22 AWG | 3A for 22 AWG, 5A for 20 AWG (NFPA 70 Table 310.15) |
| Pack yield | ≈60 pieces at 2 in | A full instrument panel, with material to spare |
| Wall type | 3:1 dual wall, hot-melt lined | Liner flows at 120°C and blocks moisture wicking down the strands |
| Bulk equivalent | 60 ft roll | Production stock — six times this pack |
Fine tubing reaches recovery temperature quickly. Work from a greater distance and keep the gun moving, or the polyolefin scorches before the liner flows.
A 22–18 AWG insulated butt splice measures 5–6mm and will not enter a 2.4mm bore. Use the 1/4 inch pack over the splice and keep 3/32 inch for the bare conductor either side.
At that rate the 60ft roll is the cheaper way to hold the size. The short pack is for people who need 3/32 inch occasionally and correctly.
Inside a sealed enclosure there is nothing for the adhesive to exclude, and the 3/32" 2:1 gives the same insulation and strain relief for less.
Our rating is 600V rms. On a 1000 Vdc string the conductor must already be rated for the circuit, and tubing seals rather than insulates.

Verify the expanded diameter is 20–30% larger than your wire or connector. The tubing must slide freely before heat is applied — if it drags, go one size up.
Cut to length and thread onto the wire or cable before making the splice or crimp. Overlap each terminal or connector end by at least 10mm for a proper seal.
The tubing starts shrinking at 100°C, but the adhesive liner only flows at 120°C — so keep the heat gun moving past the point where it looks shrunk. Start at the center and work outward to push air toward the ends. Adhesive will appear at the tube ends — that is your visual seal indicator.
The tubing should be tight and uniform with adhesive visible at both ends. No gaps, lifting, or cold spots. Pull-test the finished connection to confirm the adhesive bond.
Actual 3/32" tube at full expanded diameter (2.4mm) and after heat recovery. Use this as your fit reference before cutting.
Order a 10ft pack to verify the size fits your connector before committing to a large roll. Test fit, shrink one piece, then buy the bulk roll with confidence.
Keep a set of short rolls on the service van or boat. Enough for any repair job without hauling large rolls — one 10ft roll handles most splices.
For the same cost as one large roll, stock several different sizes in short packs. Covers more connector diameters for the same investment.
Seals individual connections on boat wiring, outdoor electrical, and trailer harnesses. Same waterproof adhesive seal as the large rolls — just 10ft.
Ideal for small-batch cable assembly and prototype builds where a full bulk roll would sit unused. Cost-effective for runs of fewer than 50 connections.
Custom automotive and motorcycle builds often need several sizes in small quantities. Short rolls let you match every connection without leftover material.
