Was wiring my car and had quite a few smaller wires to crimp and cover. This worked great — shrinks clean and consistent every time.
2 inch heat shrink tubing is the largest standard size made — a 50.8mm expanded bore that slides over the biggest cable bundles, large-diameter pipe and hose, and heavy industrial cable-assembly ends, then recovers to about 25.4mm (1 inch) on full heat. This is the 2:1 single-wall version: UL 224 polyolefin, flame-retardant, 600V, rated −55°C to +125°C. With no adhesive liner it is not waterproof — it is built for mechanical and abrasion protection, UV-resistant covering, and band-marking large bundles in dry-rated environments such as cable trays, MCC panel entries, and outdoor infrastructure. If you need a sealed, watertight sleeve over a 2 inch cable instead, choose the 3:1 dual-wall adhesive-lined version. Supplied as a 60ft bulk roll, cut to length.

High-volume UL 224 Recognized polyolefin at an honest per-foot cost. The industry standard for band marking, bundling, and dry indoor electrical insulation.
Sizing over a connector? The Wire Gauge row above is for bare conductor. Heat shrink must be sized to the widest point it passes over, so a crimped butt splice or lug barrel needs a larger tube than the wire alone — a 22–18 AWG splice barrel measures 5–6mm, a 16–14 AWG barrel 7–8mm, and a 12–10 AWG barrel 9–11mm. Measure the barrel, allow about 20% clearance, and confirm the recovered diameter is smaller than the narrowest thing the tube must grip. Use the size calculator.

Perfect for bulk workshop use
Bought this for my automotive workshop and the 120ft roll is exactly what I needed. Shrinks consistently and cleanly every time. Much better value than small packs.
Professional finish every time
Clean black finish, no bubbles or wrinkles when applied correctly. UL listing is important for commercial electrical work — ticks that box too.

2 inch (50.8mm) is the biggest single-wall diameter we stock, recovering to roughly 25.4mm. It goes over heavy cable bundles, hose and pipe, and fully terminated large assemblies. It is also the size most often ordered on the strength of its bore alone, which is half of the specification — the other half is that it will not close onto anything narrower than an inch.
A 50.8mm bore is genuinely useful. It passes over bundles that would need two or three smaller sizes, over hose and pipe up to about 40mm, and over terminated assemblies with boots and glands already fitted. For covering, jacketing and mechanical protection at that scale there is nothing smaller that will do the job.
The constraint is underneath. Recovering to about 25.4mm means the tube stops there, so anything below roughly 27mm is being sleeved rather than fitted. That excludes a great deal of what people intend to use it on: a 4/0 cable at 18–20mm, a typical three-conductor bundle at 20mm, most industrial cable assemblies. The tube goes on, it shrinks, and it still moves.
Where it genuinely fits is on things that are actually large — hose and pipe runs, heavy bundle ends, tray exits, machine cable assemblies with substantial dressing. Before ordering, measure the narrowest thing the tube has to close onto and confirm it is above about 27mm. If it is not, the honest answer is usually 1-1/2 inch or the 3:1 version of this size.
| Property | Figure | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Expanded diameter | 50.8mm (2") | Passes over bundles, hose and pipe up to about 40mm |
| Recovered diameter | ≈25.4mm | The floor — nothing below ~27mm is actually gripped |
| Usable span | ≈27–40mm | Wide in absolute terms, narrow relative to the bore |
| Best applications | Hose and pipe, tray exits, heavy bundle ends | Things that are genuinely large, not merely awkward |
| Wall type | Single-wall polyolefin | Covering, jacketing and abrasion protection; UV resistant |
| Roll length | 60 ft | Most jobs use two or three 8 in pieces |
Ordering by bore alone is the common error at this size. The recovered figure decides whether the finished tube is fitted or merely draped.
It will not be gripped. Use 1-1/2 inch, or the 2" 3:1 Dual Wall whose floor is roughly 16.9mm — three times the closure for the same bore.
Grooves between conductors stay open end to end under a single-wall tube. Sealed tray exits and enclosure penetrations need the adhesive-lined 3:1.
Sixty feet at this diameter is a substantial roll. If the job is a single penetration, the 2" 3:1 10ft pack is the cheaper way to hold the size.
Our 600V rating is in volts rms, not DC. On a 1000 Vdc circuit the conductor must already be rated and tubing seals or covers rather than insulating.

Choose a size where the expanded diameter is 20–30% larger than your wire or bundle. Smaller tubes will slide on easier; slightly oversize is better than too tight.
Cut to length and thread onto the wire before making the splice. The tubing cannot pass over a crimped terminal — position it first, then complete the connection.
The tubing starts shrinking at 100°C — use a heat gun and keep it moving until it has shrunk evenly along its length. Work from the center outward. Avoid open flame — it scorches the tubing and creates uneven shrink.
Finished tubing should be tight with no bubbles or lifted edges. No adhesive will appear at the ends — this is single-wall tubing. Confirm even recovery across the full length.
